Spiral Ham Cooking Time (USDA Reheating Guide)
A fully cooked spiral-cut ham can be served cold. To warm it, the USDA gives 10 to 18 minutes per pound for a 7–9 lb ham in an oven set to at least 325 °F. The time is an estimate; use a food thermometer to check the center reaches the correct reheating temperature for its packaging.
Spiral ham time and temperature
| Weight | Oven temperature | Approximate time | Reheating temperature |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7–9 lb | At least 325 °F | 10–18 min/lb | 140 °F if packaged in a USDA-inspected plant; otherwise 165 °F |
For example, an 8 lb ham gives an estimate of 1 hour 20 minutes to 2 hours 24 minutes (8 × 10 to 8 × 18 minutes). Begin checking before the high end of the range. The thermometer, not the clock, tells you when it has reached temperature.
For this category, FSIS lists 3–5 days in the refrigerator and 1–2 months in the freezer for quality. The freezer time is not a safety deadline: FSIS says frozen ham remains safe indefinitely when kept frozen. See the ham storage chart for other ham types and packaging.
